(Apologies for the long delay in replying, as you can probably tell, I'm finally getting around to loads of comment replies!). With Margaret, I liked to think that she eventually decided that she wanted a child, but that there wasn't anyone she wanted the child with, so she went out and got a donor and got on with it.

I wish people would write fic about it though, because I love so many of your suggestions above, and I bet there'd be other great ones out there as well.
