Based on the timeline, we can assume that Cam was in the second or third set of pilots trained for 302s since they were battle ready at the end of season 8 when he crashed
I thought that was the end of season 7? Though I have to admit to never having watched anything from before the start of season 9, so I'm probably confused (doesn't take much!)
