Here, at least, there are two hours and fifteen minutes of 2010 remaining. At the end of these two hours and fifteen minutes, my flyboys fic will be completed, no matter what.

Mainly because I picked up a pinch hit for 3 ships which is due on the 4th, and have a job application to complete by the 5th, not to mention reading for my PhD application, but still. Goals are good, right?

Happy new year to everyone, whether it already is for you, or you're still waiting. Here's to 2011 being better for everyone than 2010!

ETA: Done! 5,586 words, with 24 minutes to spare :)

ETA2: New Year is here, and the sky over my city is full of those paper lanterns you can light and send up like balloons. Sky full of wishes for the new year - so pretty, and so unexpected. Usually it's just fireworks, but I guess they caught on this year - we do have a huge hot air balloon fiesta here every summer. Also loads of fireworks - I guess there are some advantages to living on the second floor. Happy 2011!

LOL! It's good to have goals! I need to just sit myself down and write my sg_flyboys fic, set a deadline of a few hours and see how many words I churn out.

Yeah, I thought this was going to be about 2000 words and that I knew where it was going. Turns out I didn't, of course, and that 2000 words was a slight underestimation. Not that it's going to be epic, but I'm annoyed that it went sideways on me *again*

I hate when that happens. More often than not, I'll end up abandoning/setting aside a fic like that if it's for a ficathon, because there's no guarantee I'll finish in time!

Sadly, I get majorly guilt-striken if I have to bow out of something like this, which is kind of a blessing and a curse, since it does mean I always finish. But yeah, what's wrong with the two of them that they go off and flirt over coffee instead of falling into bed like they were meant to?!

Oh, me too. I think I've only defaulted on an exchange twice--once was for you, the other was the Jack/Daniel ficathon a few years back. But I get nervous about finishing on time, and honestly I prefer fic requests that ask for smut, because smut is waaaay easier than plot. *g*

Flirting over coffee... Not easy to do! But you're good with "talking" scenes, they never feel weighed down by the dialogue.

The prompt practically screams short setup then sex, so I really have only myself to blame for going all AU with it, which I'm sure is what led to the flirting. On the flipside, I get to write Dave and his family, so I definitely shouldn't be complaining.

But I still have half of my HP Big Bang to finish before Jan 14!!! That's what is making me crazy! My sg_flyboys is kind of taking a backseat, so really I need to just finish it and get it out of the way.
