Things I have to say now that I've started writing this (it's the Vega/Keller season 5 au I've been saying I'll write for months):

1. My God, Mallozi is a huge idiot when he talks about Vega, isn't he? Even worse on the deleted scenes - "a hot girl who just happens to be a lesbian," but then has to have her storyline and eventually her life sacrificed in the name of Rodney/Jennifer/Ronon love triangle stupidity. Now Rodney(or Ronon)/Jennifer/Vega love triangle would have been interesting and new, even if it did end up Jennifer/Rodney.

2. Also, the fact that you only have one single woman (apparently, he couldn't have a Vega/Keller plot because it was weird to have everyone in love with the one single woman) on the show is a sign that there's something wrong with your show, considering it used to have three (Weir, Emmagan, Heightmeyer) as well as a bunch of occasional characters (Cadman, Simpson, Brown, off the top of my head). It's full of single men - some of them could have been women (like Sam. Why did they have to get rid of Sam?)

3. I'm starting to wonder if I can write the whole thing with only occasional mention of male characters, and very little actual interaction with them, without it seeming forced. I mean, I've done the reverse (though actually, looking at what I've recently written, that's tended to be because they've been very closed in on two characters - Fall, for example, is Sheppard and Lorne in their office from start to finish, and they have almost no contact with anyone else). On the other hand, is it possible to write a story featuring two military characters without ever havig them interact with their male COs? Or the head of medical having no contact with any male patients (or the two guys interested in her?) I guess it depends where the story goes - those scenes could happen off-screen.

Anyway...
