Talk to me...

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] zelempa:

"I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Some of you I don't know at all because I didn't friend you back (yet?). Perhaps you haven't been around for long, perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: 'Ah, there's so and so...'

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear."

Or the people who I friended, and who friended me back. Who, if they're anything like me, won't remember who friended who first anyway :)

In other words - I have essays! Please distract me!

I friended you, because I love your fanfics. And something about me? I don't know... I'm addicted to Stargate Atlantis :D And I'm allergic to cats :( When I was younger, I have loved them and now I can't even approach them :(

And good luck with your essays!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you may have friended me during mcshep_match! I wrote one (1) SGA story (like, ever). Fun fact: Like Daniel Jackson, I studied Linguistics and have ascended three times!

Well, if you have essays I can only oblige and distract you for that little bit longer *g*

I talk to books I'm reading, TV shows I'm watching and have had to train myself not to talk during movies at the cinema because I get hit - often and hard.

And when I say I talk to the TV, I don't mean in a normal way - I greet the characters as they come on screen and have very one-sided conversations with them. I scare people until they just find it funny and then damn annoying *g*

I have my tongue pierced. Have done since I was 19. My mum asks me at least once a month when I'm going to get rid of it *shrug*

Oh that's sad, being allergic to cats. My sister's boyfriend is as well, and she really wants a kitten but can't have one.

And good luck with your essays!

Thanks! 4000 words on ethics in social science research - I think I need it!

You're right, I did - thanks for the reminder!

Wow, ascended three times - don't suppose you brought any knowledge of the Ancients back by any chance? :)

I do that too! I thought I was the only one! And tell them what they should be doing, and that what they're doing is not a good idea... I talk out loud to myelf as well, quite often when I'm walking around in public, which is definitely not a good thing!

[identity profile] scarletts-awry.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely idea.

Hm. My parents raised us vegetarian, so I've never eaten meat (poultry, fish, anything) before.

Also, I brush my teeth with Tom's orange-mango children's toothpaste because I can't stand the menthol that's in all the grown-up toothpaste.

...I mean, you did say any old thing. :)

I friended you because you write the best Cam/John I've read and I still go back and read Peace on Earth every month or so.

Um, random thing about me... I'm sitting here learning to play White Christmas on the guitar. There, that was interesting :)

Happy Tuesday...

I believe I friended you after lurking on your site which I got to because of your comments about East of the Sun, West of the Moon by Dossier. (Sorry I couldn't get the links there. I'm still new at this) I've enjoyed several of the things you have written.

Right now I should be working on the paperwork on my desk at work. Instead I am browsing LJ and occasionally looking at a Lorne story that I should be working on but I'm stuck.

Outside of work and fandom I enjoy playing pool and Texas Hold 'Em.

My sister and I used to eat our toothpaste because it tasted of strawberry. It took our parents ages to convert us to adult toothpaste - it's so much less fun :(

Aw, thank you *blushes* :)

That was interesting, actually - is it hard to play?

East of the Sun... I love that story... rats, now I want to go and re-read it, which isn't going to get my essay researched!

What's your Lorne story about (other than Lorne, obviously!)?

I enjoy playing pool and Texas Hold 'Em

Cool - I used to teach high school, and my kids thought it was hilarious that I couldn't learn to play pool.

Actually my story takes place in the East/West universe, with the permission of Dossier. It is 13 Earth years later and Evan Lorne is back on Dominat nearing the end of his career. It is the story of how he views the history that he has been a part of, including both the SG11(?) missions and his time in the Pegasus Galaxy.

I friended you because I loved your fics and decided that if you came out with more I couldn't miss them! However interestingly I love the word Snickerdoodle but I don't actually know what a snickerdoodle is.

Cool. I was hoping for more of Lorne in the E/W universe... well, and just more Lorne generally cos I love him. I'll look forward to reading it when you get over the writer's block :)

[identity profile] bluflamingo.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't either. But it's a nice word to say. It makes me think of a strange squiggly cartoon creature - I think it's the doodle part.

I'm glad you friended me, if only because you saved the ending of the accursed story for me :)

I'm the girl who's nuts about Cameron Mitchell. Right now my journal is about 50% Mitchell, 50% bitching about work. Occasionally I will post fic, but I don't have time to write much anymore.

[identity profile] bluflamingo.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a reasonable balance! I hope work picks up soon so the percentage of bitching about it can go down though.
