It's been a while since I did this, and I'm currently working my way through a number of job applications (Hence why I haven't replied to any of the comments about moving to Canada, I'm sorry, and I really appreciate your feedback, thoughts and things to think about) but I'm seeing it all over my flist and dwircle, which is making me want to do it again...

Pick any passage of 500 words or less from any fanfic I’ve written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you the equivalent of a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what’s going on in the character’s heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you’d expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

I just got accepted for my PhD! I was hoping to get funding to study full-time which I didn't, so I'll be doing it part-time alongside my three jobs (yeah, I know) but I don't care because I GOT ACCEPTED!

I've also got permission from my landlord to get a cat, and am hoping to adopt to 2-year-old brothers - ginger, like me (and Cadman) and raised as indoor cats, which they have to be. Things keep coming up so I've been waiting to get them for a few weeks, but still, hopefully they'll soon be living with me.

I'm 4000 words from hitting the word count for my Atlantis big bang, and I need a break from thinking about it, so, a meme (stolen from penknife:

Thing 1: I have an offer up in the help_japan auction, which is here. It's pretty non-specific, except in terms of fandoms, so I guess anything goes. Kind of.

Thing 2: I just signed up for this year's remix challenge. I haven't done remix in years, weird.

Thing 3: I so want to write a Hawaii Five-O/SGA crossover, where John gets posted in Hawaii teaching people to fly helicopters after the end of season 5, and he and Steve meet up again when Steve goes home, and it turns out they used to be involved with each other and... I swear, John Sheppard is like some kind of compulsion with me, I can't write anything without him in it.

1. Who's your favourite character in B (Numb3rs)? Colby, though Megan and David are very close seconds.
2. Who's your least favourite character in A (SGA)? McKay, no question. Partly because fandom thinks he's so wonderful, and partly because season 5 would have been a lot less bizarre than it was without him. Also, because he's just annoying.
3. What's your favourite episode of D (The West Wing)? Three Daughters, maybe. Or any episode early on in CJ's tenure as chief of staff, when she's being brilliant at it.
4. What's your favourite season of E (Criminal Minds)? Season 3, I think - it had Emily, who I love, and fewer tragic backstory episodes than season 2.
5. Who is your favourite ship in C (NCIS LA)? On the actual show, Sam/G, because it's practically canon. In fic, though I don't think anyone's writing it, Dom/Nate.
6. Who is your anti-ship in B (Numb3rs)? Don/Charlie, because I just don't see it.
7. How long have you watched A (SGA)? Since 2006, when my co-worker kept telling me how good it was, and I bought season 1 while watching the current season on download, and got utterly confused (where did Ford go?!) but also hooked.
8. How did you become interested in C (NCIS LA)? I could not tell you, because I don't watch NCIS any more. Someone must have been talking about.
9. Who's your favourite actor/actress in D (The West Wing)? Alison Janney-she's attractive, she's tall, she's got a great laugh, she's smart and funny in interviews, and she plays one of the most awesome women on TV.
10. Which do you prefer: Show A or B or E (SGA, Numb3rs or Criminal Minds)? I think maybe Numb3rs - there's no-one on the show who annoys me like McKay, and it's a lot less terrifying and depressing than Criminal Minds.
11. Which show have you seen more episodes of, A or C (SGA or The West Wing)? The West Wing, because it ran for seven seasons against SGA's five. Plus I've actually seen every episode of TWW, unlike SGA where I skipped a few, especially in season 5
12. If you could be anyone from D, who would you be (The West Wing)? CJ, for her confidence, though I wouldn't want her job. In reality, I'mmore like Ellie, I think.
13. How would you kill off your favourite character in A (SGA)? That would be Sheppard, so... I guess heroically defending Atlantis to the end. Or in some way that allowed for the possibility of it all being a big mistake and him coming back.
14. Give a random quote from A (SGA)? SGA is not actually all that quotable, just for the record, but:
McKay: So exactly what kind of special training do you guys have to go through to get this sort of mission?
Lorne: "You guys"?
McKay: Yeah, you know - 'Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. It's a great place to start'.
Lorne: And by this mission you mean hunting down a skilled weapons expert hopped up on Wraith drugs, in the pitch black of an alien planet?
McKay: Yes.
Lorne: Actually, I skipped that course in Major school.
McKay: I was afraid of that.
16. Would a C/D crossover work (NCIS LA/TWW)? It...could. Though NCIS is marines and navy, which TWW doesn't have a lot of. But Hetty does visit Washington occassionally, so maybe that way.
17. Pair 2 characters in A that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple (SGA): Surely I must have written one of those...Katie Brown and Keller. Despite having both dated McKay, or maybe because of it :)
18. Has E inspired you in any way (Criminal Minds)? Terrified me into closing my windows when it's late at night and I'm watching it, sure, but if you mean inspired in the typical positive sense, no, not so much.
19. Overall, which show has a better cast, B or D (Numb3rs or The West Wing)? TWW definitely. Not that the Numb3rs cast aren't perfectly decent, but TWW's were definitely superior.
20. Which has better theme music, C or E (NCIS LA or Criminal Minds)? NCIS LA - it's much happier than CM's, and it comes with pretty shots of the beach.

I was supposed to be buying a car today, but my bank doesn't have a counter service today, so no money and hence no car until Tuesday, which is a massive, massive pain, since I have meetings all day Monday.

Also, I got caught in the rain and soaking wet, and forgot three of the things I meant to buy in Tesco.

So, since my genficathon fic is definitely not a cheering me up kind of fic, a meme:

1. Give me a character and a story and I'll tell you three things about them that didn't make the story (or)

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future (or)
3. Ask me a question about one of my fic . It can be absolutely anything in any fic and I will tell you the honest-to-god answer. Don’t hold back. Ask about major upcoming plot points if you want to. Whatever you ask, I have to answer truthfully.
