Full-length stories written: 40

Shorts: I have no clue. About the same, maybe? A few less?

Total word count: 188,896 (about 50,000 words fewer than last year, probably because I've been writing a lot more original fic this year)

Pairings:
Numb3rs: David/Colby, Lorne/Colby
SGA: John/Ronon, Keller/Vega, John/Ronon/Rodney, Keller/Rodney, Cadman/Simpson, Brown/Cadman, Keller/Banks, Ronon/Teyla/Kanaan
SG1: Carolyn Lam/Vala, Daniel/Cam
SGA/SG1: John/Cam (contain your amazement!), Cam/Lorne, John/Cam/Daniel, Lorne/Mitchell, Cadman/Vala
Criminal Minds: Emily/Jordan
Star Trek Reboot: Kirk/McCoy, Kirk/McCoy/Sheppard, Uhura/Emmagan
White Collar: Nola/Diana, Neal/Elizabeth/Peter

My favorite story this year (of my own):
Let It Grow, the Keller/Vega, Cadman/Brown season 5 au. I love it – I've been wanting to write it for ages and finally did, it's all female characters, it's my favourite female characters, and it's mostly fun, especially the ending.

My best story this year:
And So The End, the Keller/McKay break-up fic. Which, okay, sparked a few people to bring out the 'no, Rodney's lovely really/no, it's not his fault' rants in the comments, but when does anyone ever write a 'Rodney's not perfect' fic without those? But I do think it works, and it doesn't make either of them the bad guy, and it gives Keller what I think of as a real life and real motivation rather than the usual 'woe is me, Pegasus is too scary, after *two years* I'm leaving.' Plus, it has John being gay in the background and not with Rodney. Shocking I know, but it can happen :)

Story most tragically underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Man In Motion, my Numb3rs post season 3 au, which received about 4 comments, which makes me sad because I actually like it and thinks it's not too bad. That said, a few of the comments were about how they couldn't read the end or make the link work, so clearly it either had formatting problems that I couldn't see (and they couldn't describe or point me too) or I didn't make the end clear enough.

That said, Life Less Ordinary, the CJ and Nancy McNally run for president fic was appreciated beyond my wildest dreams and I'm still not sure why. Apparently the world never knew it needed a Cregg/McNally presidency bid fic, but who am I to argue?

Most fun story:
Summer Days which is basically Keller/Vega sex in the sunshine pwp. But they're both happy and, although you can't usually tell, I like happy fic.

Most sexy story:
Summer Days again, or possibly Black Fedora, in which Diana gets a high off looking at always-female Nola Caffrey dressed in men's clothes. They don't have sex, they barely even touch, and yet...

Story with the single sexiest moment:
I think I'm going for Let It Grow, the final sex scene with Keller and Vega, where Keller asks Vega, "Can you come for me now?" and she does. Wow, after four years of doing this meme, I finally decided an actual sex scene was the sexiest moment I wrote this year. Will wonders never cease?

Most unintentionally telling story:
Mother-Daughter, in which Ellie gets divorced, goes home to her parents and comes out to her mom. I don't know what it's actually saying about me, but stories about family feel a bit over-sharing about me at the moment, at least when I'm writing them.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for me" story:
Trust Me for the kinkmeme, in which John tells Rodney to stop and Rodney's not paying attention. It felt uncomfortable to write, because I was thinking about the aftermath – their relationship is probably over now, because John's already got trust issues coming out of his ears, and even their friendship is probably changed for good, and it makes me sad. And also annoyed at the comments where people berated John for not making sure he could safe-word effectively – um, Rodney's in charge and knows what he's doing, and he wasn't paying attention. He's to blame, not John.

Story that shifted my own perception of the characters:
Adjustment Period, where Sam takes John's place after The Return and she and Elizabeth have to learn to work together. I admit, Elizabeth isn't a character I have much interest in, so writing about her is always challenging, but actually my biggest shift was for Sam, writing her as military and in charge and in Atlantis, which I've never done before. And how she works with Teyla, and with my new marine XO, Major Eve Hatsford, who I just *love* and plan to steal as an OC in my novel.

Hardest story to write:
Transference, the Cam/Daniel telepathy fic. Oh God, like pulling teeth without anaesthetic and I don't know why. I knew what was going to happen, I knew what it was going to feel like, I wanted to write it – and yet doing so was like wearing down a rock with a dripping tap. Cheerfully, I did end up liking the finished product.

Worst story:
Recovering an Old footing, the John/Cam Daedalus Variations fic. It's not, you know, awful or anything, but it's definitely not as good as it should be. I think I got bogged down in the details of all the alternate worlds, and I should have stuck with something quite close to regular universe for the main characters, rather than having them be au versions as well.

Easiest story to write:
Ribbon Ceremony, the what I consider odd little WHN future fic about the reveal of the programme. It's sort of mundane and sad and anxious all at the same time, but writing it was so easy, like it was all in my head just waiting for me to transcribe.

Also Gone Native, in which John goes back to Pegasus for Ronon. Like Ribbon Ceremony, it just kind of flowed, and in a universe where John doesn't have Cam and they don't get to go home, I think it makes as much sense, maybe more, as him shacking up with Rodney on Earth.

Story I'd like to revise (but probably won't):
I actually don't know about probably won't. I think I'm more likely to rewrite it than revise it, because I haven't posted it yet because it doesn't work. It's tentatively called Alarm Bells, and it's backstory for Almost. But Not Quite's Cam and Elizabeth, and Cam being not-quite-recovered from the bombing of the refugee colony, in that he gets panic attacks and is in counselling because he can't get over it. It doesn't work, but it should, hence the possible re-write.

Story I wish I'd finished:
There are two, the first one being the What Happens Next sequel that I *swear* I'll finish this year, though I know I said that last year. The other is set in the Dysfunction verse, and it's about John thinking Cam is dead, and how that affects him with everything that's happening and happened, and him and Keller trying to build a friendship. I've written it twice, and I still don't think it works, but I'm not sure if that's because it's not going to, or because it really needs to be a 50,000 word epic not a 5000 word fic.

Story I didn't write but swear I will, someday:
Goals for next year:
1. Finish WHN sequel
2. Center Stage future fic
3. Sequel to my Inara/Kaylee little bang fic.

Things I've said I'll write and am officially consigning to the never-going-to-happen bin (barring a miracle):
1. The Year That Was sequel
2. John and Cam running a flying school together
3. Generation Kill, Brad accidentally breaks Nate's heart (though that one's hovering, and may get revived).

I'm not sure if it's just me, but it feels like I wrote a lot more au's this year than last, most of them what-if's from canon; I certainly marked a lot more au's in this meme than I usually do. I also wrote a lot more gen, and a lot more female character centric fic.

All of which I plan to combine into a gateverse femslash au exchange, if I can just work out the logistics of running it :)

Your word count makes me jealous. Heh.

I'm sad, but I certainly can't blame you. *has defaulted on cm_tropefic twice* Also, I think I wrote a lot more gen and female-centric fic too. This is perhaps a good thing.

That would be cool. One day I will write femslash for real (I've written fake femslash) and it will be glorious.

Yeah, I know how you feel. I keep hoping my cm_tropefic will get written one day, because the premise is very cool, mysterious and complicated, but that's probably why I haven't been able to make much head-way.

You can sign up for the exchange when I get it going, to write femslash :) Not to be issuing orders or anything.
Hee! I'm tempted, though it'll probably end up the most gen femslash ever written. :P

Also, I tend to click on fics for my pairings and leave the rest for later, but this post has made me realise that I missed all kinds of interesting stories! Once I get my two January ficathons handed in, I'm digging into these :)
