OK, bootleg the kettle.

I swear, this is what the computer screens at work say when they're being rebooted. Only for a second, but they say it.

My superviser doesn't believe me.

Also, my university just moved one of my compulsory classes from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning... because it's not like any of us could have jobs where we can't just move our shifts at a week's notice or anything! This better not result in me getting a threatening letter for missing one session of the class (I already moved that shift once, and my superviser is nice, but he's not that nice). If I sound overly bitter about this, it's because my department, while lovely in many ways, is always doing stuff like this - I think they forget that not all of us are funded PhD students, some of us are poor masters students and thus have jobs.

[livejournal.com profile] 14valentines fic #3 (Sheppard/Mitchell/Lorne) is at 1542 words. Apparently, Lorne talks a lot in his own head when he's unhappy and/or nervous.

Either that or I'm accidentally channelling someone else while I supposedly write him.

#4 = Jennifer Keller backstory
#5 = Sheppard/Mitchell John in SG1 AU (is it still a one night stand if you can't stop thinking about him?)

After that... don't know. Too many choices, can't pick.

Yeah, but I don't think I know enough about how the American military works to actually write it.
I might be able to help you there. I live in a military town (basically there was a town then there was a military base and then it kind of exploded from there) and my dad is former military. I like to randomly ask him questions in regard to the military whenever I need to.

Well, you know, John's not the most in-touch-with-his-feelings guy in the world, anyway, but I think they know there's a pretty deep level of caring, just neither of them ever really think about it much.
I-well-okay yeah it's kind of cute. Although with Cam I've kind of got synecdochic's version pretty stuck in my head, so as far as I'm concerned Cam always knows he just doesn't always act on it. Oh and he knits. I get kicks out of the knitting thing. So sometimes it fun to think of that Cam in the context of your stories and trying to figure out what motivates him exactly.

The knitting thing is kind of bizarrely fitting. It's the sort of thing that sounds stupid when you say it but totally works when she writes it.

Yeah, I gues that's what I'm trying to say, in a way. He's known that he cares for John for so long that it's not something that needs thinking about any more, it just is. I don't know - Sheppard is a lot clearer in my head than Mitchell.

hey! I knit...just not very well.

But okay yeah I can see what you mean. He knows he just never really realized it and by then it was just sorta there and didn't need thinking about?

And there's nothing wrong with knitting, or people who knit. It's just that the idea of *Cameron Mitchell* knitting is, at first glance, a little odd.

Yeah, something like that, I think.

I guess yeah that would be a little weird, but couldn't you see him giving socks, scarves and sweaters as christmas gifts around the SGC? Or baking? I'm pretty sure Cam's the only one on SG-1 with any cooking skills at all.

Question. Who's actually taller: Mitchell or Sheppard?

[identity profile] bluflamingo.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I can totally see Cam giving gifts to everyone - he made Sam macaroons after she was injured by the prior, after all :)

Who's actually taller: Mitchell or Sheppard?

Mitchell. I'm not sure if this is based on actual evidence, or just in my head, but I always think of him as taller.

[identity profile] dracotelitha.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I had to Google macaroons, I didn't know what they were.

Mitchell. I'm not sure if this is based on actual evidence, or just in my head, but I always think of him as taller.

Oh good I'm not the only one. I keep thinking of Mitchell as taller but I actually think Sheppard might be. I haven't been able to find a screen cap where they're actually next to each other at an even angle. Like with Lorne. I never knew he was that short until the Replicator episode and I couldn't get over it. So I've decided that Lorne can never stand next to Sheppard again or I'll have to mock him. Mercilessly.

[identity profile] bluflamingo.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I always think of Sheppard as being, not short, but not very tall either, until, as you say, you see someone like Lorne standing next to im and realise that, even if Lorne is quite small, Sheppard can't be as small as I always think of him.

[identity profile] dracotelitha.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't actually think height until I actually think of them as next to someone. Like Rodney, in my head he has a potbelly but I know he doesn't. Now though I'm kind of rooting for other SG-1 members to make appearances on Atlantis so I can compare heights more. I'm sure they will I just haven't any idea how.
