As to the lemon thing: I think Mitchell just finds it humorous to casually threaten people. Note that in Avalon he says to Vala and Daniel, "Don't make me separate you two," while they are joined by Goa'uld bracelets. It's not like the lemon was unexpected. He's got a bit of a nasty streak (which is probably why he and John get on so well).
