Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] idyll:

Give me a character (or a pairing) from any of my fandoms (Atlantis, season9/10 SG1, Firefly, early seasons West Wing), and I'll give you three facts from my personal "fanon" for that character (or pairing).

Thank you! I love the idea of their friends being all, "But - sex! and you like him! and regular sex!" while John or Cam stares at the person and goes, "well, yes, but saving the world, so, you know..." I justhaven't figured out a way to work it into a fic yet :)

I'm certain that you will though. Love is grand, but there's a reason these two joined the military - setting aside their desire to fly. Its part of their character for them to want to save lives - to save the world, two galaxies - and to strip that away for sex wouldn't make all that much sense to them at this point. I see them making sacrifices of their careers at some point, but only once they feel that the threat of the wraith/ori/villian of the week was gone. On the other hand, there is the thought that they should live in the moment somewhat, that they could die at any time - which is why they take what they can when they can.

Yes, exactly! I think there would definitely come a point where one or other of them would say, ok, enough, and then they'd have to worry about being together (like in Thin Thread Left, where John loses his team and they defeat the Wraith, and that's the point where he can go do something else), but they're both very 'duty and honor'. As you say, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for their characters for them to give it up without something to push them.
