Here Goes Nothing...

Big Bang current word count: 40,568.

I hit the 40,000 word mark! Woo hoo!

I'm thinking final word count probably somewhere around 70,000 before it gets beta-read and edited and possibly shortened. I'm going back and writing in Teyla's story now, which is interesting; we really don't know *anything* about Kanaan, and I don't write het relationships. That said, I suspect it will be more about Teyla and the Athosians than Teyla and Kanaan (yeah, in this universe, they don't get kidnapped. The whole Michael thing? Stopped before it starts).

That aside, the story-line is currently cut off partway through the wraith and Rodney trying to fix the replicators. Then there's Miller's Crossing, but from Atlantis, since I have nothing new to do with the on Earth bit, followed by John and Cam *finally* getting to have sex, and not long after that I get to write the fight between John and Rodney that I've been wanting to write since I started, and my amendment to Doppelganger, where everyone gets nightmares about Cam. Not that I know what these will be yet. Oh, and Cam and Rodney stuck in a transporter together during Quarantine. Maybe. If it doesn't end up seeming too bad-comedy-movie-ish, which it might.

I can't imagine, now, why I thought I'd have trouble getting to 40,000 words. I'm just grteful it's not a maximum word count, at this point!

On the Open Source Boob Project (if you don't know what that is, keep it that way), I have one thing to say: no-one should have to opt out of being asked if a stranger can touch their breasts. If you don't know the answer to that, assume it's going to be no.

Actually, that isn't all I have to say, but I already ranted on three people's journals about it this evening, so I'm going to shut up in my own.

Cam and Rodney trapped in a transporter sounds hilarious particularly after season ten's lemon incident. Unlike Rodney-Sam where there's a little bit of affection and a whole lot of respect, Rodney and Cam just seriously dislike one another.

Wow, you make me feel very ashamed that my story hasn't progressed much in the last few months. But my rewrites and edits had to happen before I got too far into the story.

Hence the reason they have to be trapped together to work it out... yeah, I said it sounded bad comedyish, right? By the time they get to that point they're actually past the whole can't stand to be around you thing (constant exposure works, in this case) and into general unspecified resentment at each other.

No... well, not exactly. There's stuff with them, it's just, you know, John refuses to be convincingly written as falling into bed with his new CO within a couple of weeks of him turning up. It's very annoying :)

Anyway, it's Cameron and John for the first 40,000 words, it just takes that long to get beyond kind of flirting and some kissing to actual sex. They're difficult like that :(

I'm better at getting stuff done when I have a lot to do and a deadline, otherwise it takes me forever. Which is probably why I always end up with a lot to do and a looming deadline, now I think about it!

I'm getting paranoid about this now - anyone who comments on the finished thing, I'll be wondering if they stuck it out thinking the story was crap, just to get to the sex :)

Hun, you KNOW we love your fics and the chances of it being crap is between zero and bugger-all. :D

I prefer a story with something other than the sexings and you always manage to astound me with something you say in your writing. *hugses* So, no fear that I think your writing is crap... ain't gonna happen. Unless you write intentional badfic.

Ah, that makes sense, yes. I expect the chain-of-command issues and the rules related thereto would perhaps be more difficult to deal with than DADT--there's actually a good reason for those rules, after all, and I'm sure the characters know that.
