Oh, ouch. This is perfect in a melancholy way and so very Cam. He really would start to hope and think about having John around long-term even though intellectually he knows it's a long shot. His observations about John really hit home too, because John would run off without even saying goodbye and not realize what he's done. He'd beat himself up over it later if someone pointed it out, but it wouldn't stop him from doing it all over again.
