Oh holy fic gods! This is incredible! Wow, you write UST absolutely wonderfully. So tense and restrained yet hopeful, all at the same time. Poor Will, yearning for Sam for years! I really do think Will fell a bit in love with Sam in Season 4, with a good mix of hero-worship. Your Elsie is wonderful, and I love the CJ and Donna touches we get. The Sam/Josh backstory is perfect, I'm a huge fan of their history. The Sam/Will interactions are the Best Thing EVER. I love their friendship so much, and while I'd love for Sam and Will to get their happily ever after, it's just not realisitic if Sam is going to move up in politics, and I think Will is dedicated to getting Sam as close to the Oval Office as possible.

I 'ship both Josh/Sam and Sam/Will, but after Sam leaves for California, I definitely think it's Will (and Toby) who really understands him best.

"See?" Will says, holding his hand over the receiver, "Some people understand I'm an important person round here."

"Whatever you say." Elsie shrugs and grins at him. "I bet you asked them to call now to make you look good."

Hee! I love your banter! And I really like Sam talking to Elsie. There's something about the three of them that makes me so happy.

I'm not sure I totally agree with your reasoning for why Sam left the White House (to me, S4 Sam was more energised and optimistic about politics than ever, compared to S3 Sam) but I really like how you get him back into campaigning again. And just like that, Sam's running for Congress. Again. So cute!

One correction: it's spelled "Bartlet" not "Bartlett".

Thank you so much for writing this! And I really hope you'll write a sequel.
