I wondered if anyone might be up for beta reading my [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon entry? I think it's going to work out about 15,000 words (it's 11,000 at the moment, and closeish to being done) and gen, obviously, but since it's an anonymous contest till the reveal, and I think mine will be pretty easily distinguished, I can't actually tell you who's in it or what it's about, so I guess if you might have time, comment and I can email you the details or something. It should be ready for beta reading by the middle of this week, and it's due late April, so I guess I'd need it back by the end of this month.

And in totally unrelated news - there's a mouse in my flat. Like, a wild mouse that's got in through a whole in the wall, and keeps running between one wall and the other, and it FREAKS ME THE HELL OUT every time I see it on the edge of my vision. I mean, better a mouse than a spider, but I still want to leap on a chair every time I see it. I'll be off to see my letting agent on Monday about getting rid of it, but until then... *shudder*

I can beta for you if you want? I only know canon up to s4, but I'm pretty thoroughly spoiled for the final season so that's not an issue for me if it's not for you :) My email is miss_zedem @ yahoo .co .uk - just let me know what you want me to beta (plot, characterisation, spelling/grammar/punctuation etc) and I can get it back to you before the end of the month.

If you need it by the end of the month I can do it.

Cool, thanks, I'll email you in the next day or two.

Sent to your hotmail. Let me know if it doesn't show.

I'd let you borrow my cat. He's an excellent mouser! I know what you mean about freaking, though. It's very unsettling. Better a mouse than a cockroach, which I will now refer to as Iratus bugs.

Mice and lizards don't bother me so much. Spiders and scorpions though.... The last time I tried to get a scorpion out of the house it got out of the cup and onto my arm. I screamed bloody murder and freaked out the whole house.

Spiders and scorpions though

Ugh spiders. One of my old housemates used to pick them up in her hands - just the thought of doing that makes me feel sick.

Seriously? You'd rather have a mouse than a spider? At least spiders don't carry diseases that humans can pick up. (I'm pretty sure.) And they're small and squishable!

But then among my roommates during university, I was designated insect and arachnid killer.

But they have *eight legs*. And they can crawl on you, with all their little feet. And go up walls and drop on your head. And probably survive the apocalypse (which I'm so saving up to use for next years apocalypse-kree fic).

Plus, my sister kept mice when I was younger, so while I'm not keen on them, I can cope with them. I think if she'd kept spiders I'd have had a nervous breakdown.

Better a mouse than a cockroach

True, though we don't get many of those over here, thank goodness *shudder*
