I just bought my dad a plane for his birthday. Okay, not a real plane (sadly, community work doesn't pay anything *like* that well), but a knitted plane. A Lancaster bomber, to be precise. My dad's hugely into WW2 aircraft (I'm more interested in the pilots), and he's going to be 60 this year, so it's (hopefully) going to be a great gift.

I also bought him a little plane to put on his bike - I like having a theme.

In other news - oh my God, I'm such a girl. I slept on my sofa last night because there was a spider running around on my bedroom ceiling and I decided I couldn't deal with spiders at 11.30 at night, but neither could I get into bed knowing it was there. So I left the window open, and it seems to have crawled out in the night. I, on the other hand, am now limping around because I fell off the sofa, which is, unsurprisingly, not as wide as my bed and wrenched my knee. Ow. Serves me right I guess.

In other other news - sunshine! And warmth! And I can't get at it, because I'm stuck at work *on my own* all day. Rewriting the pages for our website, again, in the hope that my boss might actually approve them some time before the next ice age - it's only been 8 months of trying. But she's been on holiday this week, so I'm hoping she'll come back chilled out and persuadable. Probably not, but I live in hope.

So how's everyone doing? Plans for the weekend? Stuck at work and bored? Talk to me, cos I'm definitely the last one!

Well, since I just subscribed to your journal I feel like a bit of an intruder, but I have seen you around fandom for a while now and I am bored right now. I am planning on leaving early anyway, but heading off before noon might be a bit too suspicious. Instead I am surfing the web ;)

It#s sunny outside here, but not really warm :(

My boyfriend's parents will visit us this weekend, so today will be spent cleaning and tidying and doing grocery shopping. Monday is off here in Germany.

I also have quite a full fandom timetable right now that I will be working on. Oh my.

Possibly a little! I can't leave because I'm literally the only person here; probably nobody's going to want to visit us, but I can't lock up and go, just in case. sigh.

Holiday weekend's are good - we had ours last weekend, and yet somehow this week seems twice as long as usual. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Ooh, sunshine must be nice. It's rainy and cool here today, just like it's been all week. It's really too bad you can't get out to enjoy it. Maybe the weather will hold for the weekend?

We had sunshine on Monday, rainy on Tuesday, rainy *and* cold on Wednesday, rainy in the morning and sunshine in the afternoon yesterday and, thus far today, glorious sunshine. So I shouldn't complain about the sun, but really, is it too much to ask that one kind of weather lasts for more than a couple of days?!

Um...I'm not actually much of Star Trek fan. I dunno, should I admit that? I mean, everyone's raving about the new movie but I'm just...not a fan.

I don't think you necessarily have to be a fan to enjoy the movie. Or at least that's what the critics say. On the other hand, I had a lot of issues with the movie, even though I enjoyed parts of it, so I don't necessarily think you're missing anything by not seeing it.

I do know what you mean about the weather. We went from high-twenties to a frost warning in about two days last week. I guess that's spring for you.

Hmm, maybe I'll rent the DVD. I have to be incredibly keen to see a film to actually go to the cinema, since I'd have to go by myself, and somehow that feels a lot more pathetic than going anywhere else by myself (which is possibly a good thing, since I do go pretty much everywhere by myself!)

I sometimes enjoy going to matinées by myself, but I agree, I don't like going to evening shows alone. Renting the DVD would work, though of course, the explosions won't be quite as impressive. (Personally, I'm hoping for a Director's Cut edition that expands up on and explains some of the plot points that bother me.)

I think it's all the teenagers at the cinema that put me off. Don't tend to get many at either classical concerts or the theatre!
