1. It is very hard to write smooth sentences when you're writing femslash in which the pov character never refers to herself by name.

2. I'm going to the theatre with my boss at my favourite job tomorrow night. I mean, we knew each other a little before I got the job, so it's not as weird as it could be, but still, little weird.

3. Intro to BSL level 2 just got cancelled, so I don't have to do it, yay, and can go straight on to level 2, yay, which means I don't have to shell out £135 for it, very yay.

4. I spent an hour on Tuesday looking for a computer processor that I knew was in my community centre somewhere, having found one which was not the right one, and failed to find it. Then I asked my friend who works there, today, if she could remember where I put it, to which she had many suggestions... and in the process of saying no to all of these, I realised that the one I'd found that wasn't the right one... was. Which I should have realised, because it had the anti-virus programme I downloaded on it when I turned it on. I need a holiday! Sadly, I'm not going to get one.

5. Also, note for the weather: it's not actually necessary to go immediately to autumn, complete with wind, rain and a seven degree drop in temperatures just because it's September. Not least because I don't actually possess any suitable for work and autumn clothes, having not had to be smart in my last job and hence not having bought any yet.

ETA: Stargate wiki says Cadman is (a) air force and (b) born in 1972, thus making her only two years younger than Elizabeth. Somehow, that just doesn't sound right. Not least because that would have made her in her mid-30s when she was on SGA, and thus apparently an incredibly bad officer to only be a lieutenant at that age. On the other hand, it also suggests that John and Lorne were also born in 1970, so either I'm much worse at guessing ages/age differences that I thought I was, or they're making this stuff up.

I rather hate Stargate wiki with its stupid ads. Stargate SG-1 Solutions is *far* more accurate and comprehensive, at least for SG-1. Unfortunately the Atlantis stuff isn't as good or up-to-date--they don't even have a page for Cadman. But at least they don't outright make stuff up!

I searched "Mitchell" in Stargate Wiki and came up with Captain Mitchell from Continuum, which is just *wrong*. Why didn't Cam come up first? Also, we don't *know* that the captain of the Achilles was named Mitchell. They purposely never name him. He could've been from Cam's maternal line, for all we know. Grr, I hate inaccurate data.

No way is Cadman older than I am. I'd buy her being born in 1980, but not 72. I think the wiki is making things up. And no way is John only three years older than I am. Nope. Wiki = totally making things up.

Well, Stargate sucks at character ages so John could very well have been born in 1970. Sam Carter was born in 1968, Cameron Mitchell was born in 1970 and graduated high school in 1987, and they both outrank John by a couple of years.

Ah, but John has that infamous "black mark" on his record - he really only got promoted because Weir pretty much forced them to. (I'd love to add a "which would never happen in the real military", but what do I know about how the military works?)

I will grant that my belief that Sheppard has to be in his forties is probably based on my denial that I'm approaching 40 myself, hahaha.

True, there's the black mark, but I don't think it really affected his promotion schedule, considering in RL you either get promoted or you leave. Nobody's allowed to just hover at the same rank (in real life--let's just ignore the fact that Jack stayed a colonel for, like, 8 7 years after retiring twice) so if John hadn't gotten pulled for the Atlantis mission, he probably would have been kicked out once he failed the promotion board (or whatever it's called).

That's my take on it, anyway. I admit there's room for interpretation. I agree that it'd make way more sense for Sam and Cam (and John) to be older than canon says they are. Cam especially.

Definitely. Lorne has to either be promoted immediately post-series, or something is hinky. The problem is, John's not quite ready for *his* promotion in RL (of course, Sam and Cam got promoted very quickly too) and you couldn't have two LTCs on Atlantis.
