My little sister just got engaged!

Well, okay, she's 25, so not little, and they've been living together for a year and a half and seeing each other for seven, but still! Engagement!

So exciting! We haven't had a wedding in my family since I was 12 :)

I've only been to one before, but yeah, it was nice :) Weird that my sister's the first person in my age group that I know who's getting married - apparently my friends just aren't the marrying types!

Yeah, I've been in exactly two weddings. One of them, I was eight, and the other was my own sisters a few years back. But I love everything about celebrating unions.

Unfortunately, the majority of my friends aren't able to marry for various legal reasons [sigh, America.], but they're pretty much all paired off in one way or another and making babies - which I also enjoy. So, I win by proxy. :D

You do win :) My friends *could* all get married/civil partnershipped, but apart from one who just bought a house with her partner, we're all mostly single and childless. I think I'll be going to a lot of weddings when I'm in my thirties :)

And also, coming from the big-sister, younger sibling thing, no matter how old they are, they remain firmly in the "little" category. My "little" brother is about to turn 25, and is making terrifying noises about wanting to propose to his girlfriend. I keep going "but I'm not old enough to be married, you're a child, how can YOU get married!?"

But then, engagement excitement :D

Ooh, exciting! Possibly a lot of work for her, but exciting. Weddings can be lovely.

My sister got married at twenty-six and my brother at twenty-four, but most of my friends have waited into their thirties. Actually, a lot of us still aren't showing any signs of getting married. ;)

Huge amount of work for her - she has *very* specific ideas about what she wants and they're not small ideas.

None of my friends are showing any signs of getting married either; it's very weird to think that my sister will be the first of my more-or-less contemporaries to do it! On the other hand, I don't think my friends are the marrying types, really, at least not yet.
