Anyone else, I have no problem launching pretty much straight into "and so, there they are, in bed together."

Why do John and Cam require 3000 words of build-up before they'll get it on?

Them and sex, I swear - nothing but trouble.

No hurry, I'm just excited is all! I think a prompt like that requires some build-up to be believable, so power to you :-)

Let's hope so :) I'm having a great time writing it, even if they are driving me nuts with the lack of falling into bed.

Seriously don't stress about deadlines or anything build-up is a feature not a bug! But I know we all have so many things we're trying to pack into our schedules, sometimes it feels like too much even when it's fun stuff

Thanks! Actually, this is a good excuse to do something that isn't stressful, so the deadline is a good thing - otherwise I'd keep putting it off.

Truthfully, I often enjoy the build-up more than the sex, so while I feel bad that it's taking you so long to get where you want to go, I'm also kind of gleeful that we'll get 3000 words of John/Cam build-up.

I do as well, which is probably why it takes me so long to get to the sex, but this is prompt fic with a specific sex related prompt - inability to get to the sex is a problem :)

Well, yes, if you're trying to write a sex-specific prompt, then that is definitely a problem.

(I don't think I'd care for writing sex-on-command--which is one of the reasons I don't sign up for kink_bingo. I find it hard to write interesting sex scenes. Unless I go in with inspiration, and then the interesting stuff usually isn't the sex--it's the emotional subtext.)

It's definitely an interesting prompt - I kind of love it, actually - but I did get totally side-tracked by the build-up. Getting there though.

Well at least you know where you're going, then. That's definitely helpful. As long as the build-up adds to the story, I can't see anyone complaining. ;)

Of course, I can see how 3000 extra words would throw off your schedule a little.

Story of my life - WHN sequel's gone back on hold because it's taking way longer than I expected it to. Maybe Christmas :)

Don't remind me! I'm so trying to be good about what I sign up for, so I can do sga-santa this year, but it's not working.

Yeah, I signed up for xover exchange again (because I am weak!) How about you?

Yes, I did. I wasn't going to, but then I kept working on my sign-up form in odd moments--just for fun, y'know--and then about twenty minutes before the deadline, I sent it in. Moment of weakness, but I do so love a good crossover.

I'm going to be good at Christmas though! And I'm not going to let the fact that I found out I'll only have one set of exams to mark rather than the two I was expecting fool me into thinking that I'll have time. Because I won't. I have baking to do, after all. And shopping. And I will refrain from signing-up for anything.

Well, maybe just one. if I can choose between yuletide and sga_santa. Or sg1_jubilee, if that happens to run again.

That's always my problem - I can never choose. Well, that and I have no willpower, so even after I make the choice, I don't stick to it :(

Why not start out with them in bed and then work backwards? LOL! Or maybe you and your readers just want to savor the moment. Trust me, we don't mind any of those 3000 words.

The whole reason I end up with 3000 words of story first is that I can't just start with them in bed, I need the buildup. I just didn't mean for it to get that long!

You know...they can't help it if they wanna have foreplay...

Foreplay would be fine. 3000 words of slightly angsty back story, on the other hand...

that's just another type of foreplay! ;D
