by the government, no less. Not that that's a huge surprise. I've just been paid my final month's pay, a week of two thirds of my salary and two weeks' holiday pay - and after tax, national insurance and whopping great student loan repayments just cos I'm leaving my job - I get the same amount of money as I would on a normal month's salary. This strikes me as mildly unfair. Also - why do I have to pay more than twice as much in student loan repayments just because I'm leaving my job? And why didn't anyone warn me that would happen? I could do with that money right now!
Started my new job yesterday - I think the commute is going to kill me, but at least it's only for a week. And they have quite good phone ins on the radio in the morning, so that keeps me going. This really weird one called LiveBait for Live8, where their producer dresses up in a bear suit and hides somewhere in Leicester. People go out looking for him, and they ring him up to find out how it's going. And also this morning, discussing whether the female presenter's friend's boyfriend is having an affair cos he changed the sheets and left two wine glasses in the sink when she was away. You'd think she might just ask him, bt apparently not.
It's really quiet at the university at the moment, cos vacation's just started, so that's a bit weird, but it's nice to be back there as well. Everyone in my old job, where I still am for the rest of the week keeps saying goodbye, cos all our students are going home - it's so sad. I got a present from one of them, who is one of my favourites, and a really sweet letter - I just sat in the staff room and cried to read it. I'll miss them so much.
My boss is flapping around - no idea why or what he wants - I think he's sleep dperived, or at least I hope he is. This place gets stranger every day. And it's raining, which is unconnected to anything, but what happened to the heatwave??
