So: hi. Long time no see, how's everyone doing?

I was going to write a bit about how life has been going lately, but it summarises to 'not well' and I can't stand to get into it all. So instead, holiday wish lists!

* Make a post (public, friends/access locked, filtered, whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

* If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

What the hell, let's start with the big things:

1. A new job, or enough self-employed work to quit one of my jobs. Training, writing, research, admin. I need to get out of one of my current places sooner rather than later.

2. Funding for my PhD. I just got turned down again - fourth time. How do you study while working more than full-time?

3. A new alarm clock

4. Rec me a good book about queer characters where none of them die and it's not about them coming out/having their first relationship/realising they're queer, but being queer is a big part of their story

5. A short-term working Visa for Canada, and a job when I go out there (come on, open the damn programme to applications again already!)

6. Ideas for what I can make next - I made all my Christmas presents this year and now my inspiration has run out. I can sew, I can crochet a little bit, I've made felt penguins, cushion covers, pin cushions, a tea cosy...

7. Silicone kitchen utensils. I love them, they're so pretty and easy to clean

8. Hurt/comfort fic

9. A link to an easy tutorial for vid-making - there's this song I desperately want to make into a Hawaii Five-0 vid, but I have no clue how to even start

10. If you can afford it, donate something to a charity that does work around Alzheimers, or cancer - my gramps suffered from one, my grandad from the other, both at the end of their lives, so these are causes dear to my heart

And now, the flip-side of Christmas wishes: I don't do Christmas cards, generally, I donate to a charity instead. But for the last three years, I've done Christmas ficlets; this year they might be closer to new year than christmas since I'm a bit behind, but leave a comment with a fandom, pairing/character and prompt, and I promise a ficlet even if it's belated

I'm sorry things haven't been going well. :(

Re. 5: I can't help with the visa, but I'll keep an eye open for jobs if you're still thinking of coming to my area. One possibility off the top of my head is temp work at the university.
