Dear Yuletide Author...

Whee, my first year in Yuletide, so honestly, pretty much anything you write for me will make me happy, just because it was written for me in a tiny fandom that I like. That said…

1. E-Ring:

I love this despite JT being kind of implausibly brilliant at what he’s doing (I have no problem suspending my disbelief for anything make believe). I particularly like the relationship between him and Bobby and Charlie, because they’ve been together for what seems like a fair while and are obviously good friends. JT’s in charge and has no problem telling them what to do, but they have no problem telling him no when necessary, or rising to whatever ridiculous plan he’s just dreamt up.

I’d love something that looks at them before the show starts, something that focuses on their friendship and their working relationships, and how these developed. Or something after a bad mission, with comfort, and maybe a look at how they handle things that go wrong, or the responsibility; maybe even something set after the end of the season.

2. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip:

I’m a big fan of the friendship between Tom and Simon, or between the two of them and Harriet. I’d love a slash story featuring the two of them, but friendship would be fine as well if you’d prefer. I like the way they look out for each other (when Tom’s arrested for example), and the secrets they have between the two of them, so something that deals with that would be nice. Maybe a look, of you decide to go the slash route, at how being out might affect their careers. Can you tell I really don’t mind what you write about them?!

3. Garth Nix – Abhorsen trilogy:

I love, love, love these books, especially Lirael, the character and the book. I like that the main characters are almost all female and are treated equally to the male characters, that they take on the rescues and run the kingdom and predict the future and try to change the world and succeed even though it hurts them. I love that, especially in the second two books, there’s no romantic subplot, and that friendships and family are so important.

I’d love something that picks up after the last book, looking at how Lirael becomes part of the family she never knew about, and how Ellimere deals with the Clair and her new aunt. I love Ryelle and Sanar as individuals and as twins, and I’d love something with the four of them together as friends and family and doing something that young women would do. Maybe something that deals with what Lirael in particular lost in the last battle, both physically and emotionally.

4. Criminal Minds:

I love JJ and Garcia, particularly when they’re left behind at the Bureau together. They totally flirt, and femslash between the two of them would be great. I like Reid because he’s so socially inept and yet so brilliant – something that uses his knowledge of every bit of useless (and useful) trivia EVER would be great. I like Morgan because he’s so sensible and practical, but really caring. I like how he looks after the rest of the team, and the way his relationship with Reid (friendship, slash, whichever) developed over the first season.

I’ve only part of season 2 (up to the one with the Russian kidnap), so I don’t mind spoilers at all, but if it’s happening after this, a bit of extra context might be nice. Sorry!


Generally I love hurt/comfort, mild angst, positive endings, friendship stories, verbal humour, mild teasing, AUs, future fic, stuff set before the shows/books started, slash, developing relationships, caring and affection.

I don’t like humiliation, embarrassment, people being made to look stupid, outright humour stories, excessive violence, PWP, het.

Honestly though, having said all that, if you have an idea you like better for any of the fandoms, as long as it uses some or all of the characters listed, go for it. I’d love to see what you come up with for them.
