Someone convince me that I don't want to sign up to write Cam Mitchell instead of Sam Carter taking over leadership of Atlantis for
sgabigbang. I could totally do it. I have a 'Cam on Atlantis' file on my computer. I could write 40,000 words of that by July. I could.
Except that it would have to be gen or John/Rodney.
I don't have that much will-power!
Unless... I wonder if background pairings are allowed in a gen story...
No! Someone stop me!

Forks in the Road: Sam doesn't get chosen as leader. What they really need is Mitchell.
Can't you imagine Cameron in Outcast getting the news that John's father has died and knowing he can't go with him?
Or John after Travelers being slightly peeved to realize that Cam isn't jealous /worried about Larrin at all?
The chance for good, long, plotty John/Cam.... It must be encouraged wherever it emerges.

Mm, and having the tact not to tell him this in the middle of the hallway (which has always annoyed me greatly about the episode)

And evil-crystal-entity!John would be his nightmare wingman over Antarctica and force him into the path of Goa'uld gliders. And Mitchell would have figured out that Harmony was head over heels for John before either Rodney or John and he'd be quietly laughing his butt off the whole time.
*restrains self*
For Cam/John in Atlantis (especially yours) I would encourage, beta, sit quietly and wait, rewatch every episode of seasons four (SG:A) and nine and ten (SG-1). The pairing is seriously made of awesome.

Never let it be said that I turn down offers of beta reading :) The more the merrier, I say.
