Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you for signing up to write one of my fandoms. I can pretty much guarantee that I'll love whatever you write, so if you've got a brilliant idea that you just love and *have* to write, feel free to do it. If you're like me and find yourself staring at a blank screen really wanting to write but not knowing where to start, hopefully this will help.

Generally I love hurt/comfort, mild angst, positive endings, friendship stories, verbal humour, mild teasing, AUs, future fic, stuff set before the show started, slash/femslash, developing relationships, gen/friendship, caring and affection.

I don’t like humiliation, embarrassment, people being made to look stupid, outright humour stories, excessive violence, PWP, het.

For the specific fandoms...

1. Thoughtcrimes:

I love the developing friendship between Freya and Brendan, their bond and the way they care for each other, and take care of each other. I'd love something about Brendan's past, where Freya gets to save the day. Or a day in the life kind of story - what do they do when they're stuck in the office all day, or out on a boring case. Or something with the two of them in their off-time.

2. Generation Kill:

I'm totally hooked on this show, to the point that I get to the end and go right back to the beginning, over and over. My favourite characters are Nate and Brad (and Walt, I just want to give him a hug, he's sweet). I'd love something about teh relationship between Nate and Brad (slash if you like, just friendship if you don't), how they seem to be always redefining it, sometimes get along really well and sometimes really don't. I like the supportive element between all the characters, so something focusing on that would be good. Or something before they go to Iraq - was everyone really as keen to go as they said, or the adjustment to working with new people. Or something set after the end of the series, maybe focusing on what it's like to be back in civilian life.

3. E-Ring:

Wow, I didn't realise I was so vague in my sign-up, sorry.

I love this despite JT being kind of implausibly brilliant at what he’s doing (I have no problem suspending my disbelief for anything make believe). I particularly like the relationship between him and Bobby and Charlie, because they’ve been together for what seems like a fair while and are obviously good friends. JT’s in charge and has no problem telling them what to do, but they have no problem telling him no when necessary, or rising to whatever ridiculous plan he’s just dreamt up.

I’d love something that looks at them before the show starts, something that focuses on their friendship and their working relationships, and how these developed. Or something after a bad mission, with comfort, and maybe a look at how they handle things that go wrong, or the responsibility; maybe even something set after the end of the season. Slash between any two of them would be great, as would friendship.

4. SGA RPS:

I really would, as I said in my sign-up, love a slashy story (either outright slash or pre-slash or strong hints of slash) set after the end of Stargate. I'd prefer fic that deals with the fact that they both have partners and kids, preferably where that's an issue for them, rather than their partners just accepting it (I like angst).

If not post-series, maybe early on, when they're just getting to know each other, or something about with skate-boarding and affection.

Wow, that got long, sorry. Seriously, though, if you have an idea you like, feel free to ignore all this and write your idea instead. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you write!

Love,
Me

JT's implausible heroics were right up my ally

And mine, bizarrely. Normally, that would have driven me nuts, but for some reason it worked.

I actually got an E-Ring story one year, it's the only one in the archive I think. Het, though. But I was happy.

I read that, I think. It may be the only E-ring story in existence.
