Dear Self,

You're British. It's bred into you to always carry an umbrella. Always.

So what made you think that knowingly leaving the house without one was a good idea?

This is why you ended up walking fifteen minutes from the bus to work in *driving snow* and arrived looking like a drowned rat.

Sincerely,
Me

Oops! I always carry an umbrella to job interviews, even if it is gloriously sunny. I suppose I want to give the impression of always being prepared?

I forget it most of the time otherwise, though.

I've always wanted one that looks like the cross-section of some citrus fruit. /off-topic

Funny...it would never occur to me to use an umbrella in the snow. That's what hats and hoods and waterproof coats are for. But you know, I suppose an umbrella might work, as long as it didn't turn inside-out.

I hope you didn't spend the whole day miserably wet!

Oh yeah, I've done it myself. Especially when it's a wet snow. The little old ladies at church do it all the time.

I was in Scotland and England in August 2008 and I came prepared. Raincoat, fold-up umbrella I kept in my purse at all times--no boots, I didn't own any, but a change of shoes--a waterproof cover for my backpack and a garbage bag inside that in case it still leaked through. My friend who met me in London didn't anything. That was a wet, wet August.

Goodness gracious, it's like you were going deep sea diving. :D

Trust me, some days it felt like it! [personal profile] blackeyedgirl and I sat in the pouring rain to see the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh, and literally squelched back to our hotel. The only thing that stayed dry that night was the inside pocket of my purse!

Oh, you poor thing!
