Quick question...

At the start of the episode, John says that the SGC doesn't have a ZPM, so a trip home means three weeks on the Daedalus as well, to get back to Atlantis. And in Echoes, Elizabeth says that, of the three ZPMs from when the Ancients were on Atlantis, Atlantis got one, one went to the Antarctic outpost, and one went to the Odyssey.

The Odyssey was destroyed, I think (ETA: all right, not the Odyssey. I'm mixing it up with the Prometheus, which really was destroyed), so now there's only one on Earth, but then how have they been dialling Atlantis, like in Miller's Crossing when they, presumably, dialled Atlantis to ask them to send the Wraith? Also, Sam came through the gate when she came to Atlantis, so how did they dial the gate to send her?

I only ask, because that one sentence totally derailed a major plot point in my santa fic and I need a fix. Not that I couldn't come up with one, probably, but if canon already supplied one, since they just supplied the problem, that would be nice :)

Grr, just one more thing not to like about that episode.

The Odyssey is perfectly fine, and as far as we know its ZPM wasn't drained in Ark. For that matter, there's still the almost-full ZPM in Antarctica. The only way John's comment makes sense is if the SGC or IOA is just being cranky about using power to send people to Atlantis. It doesn't make sense, but there you go.

Yeah, I'm confusing it with the Prometheus, I think.

I guess the SGC thinks that the ZPMs are needed where they are, and it's not like they can just be zapped from one place to another whenever they need to dial the gate. I just wish he'd never mentioned it, since I was qite happily writing people gating from Earth to Atlantis until then and now I need to make something up for the story I'm halfway through, in which him going to Earth for what's essentially a vacation is kind of a big deal. Grr
