So, where I work in the afternoons, I don't finish till 5, which means after it gets dark. I'm the only person in the building with most of the lights turned off, in an okay-but-not-great area of the city every day for about an hour. Also, the building makes weird noises. I've been totally fine with it for months now, until tonight, when I find out at 4 that I have to hang around and wait for some electricians who will be here some time before 8, but no idea when.
(on a sidenote - what kind of business account includes oh, an afternoon appointment is some time between 1 and 8? who works till 8pm on a regular basis?!)
Anyway - I'm freaking out being here alone, even though it's not even 6 and I know I'm perfectly safe. And at some point I have to go, alone with two strangers, to a building with no heat, no light and no power, to watch them plug in four fuses so I can power up the buidling again.
Welcome to my glamorous life!
In brighter news - whoever nominated Never Going Home for the mcshep awards, thank you! (I'm sure it's some kind of comment on fandom that, of the 50 or so stories I wrote last year, the single McKay/Sheppard one is the one that gets nominated for an award. I mean, probably because there aren't any rare slash pairing awards, but still. It made me smile).

Using the episode where Megan asks him what a 30 year old man likes, (I used 32 for my calculations) I came up with him graduating from high school in 94, college in 99 and joining the FBI in 05. If he enlisted out of high school, he would have had to have started college around 2001...which means he wouldn't have been in Afghanistan as depicted, which pretty much means he had to go the ROTC or academy way and was an officer. Throw a 2 year masters degree in and he joined up in 01. And who knows when he was in Afganistan or if/where he was posted before LA in the FBI. Also, I thought he said something sometime about being w/ special forces, but I can't remember if I'm thinking about the reporter episode and crossing up canon with fanon.

I'll try and piece together a decent timeline myself using this information. Even if it conflicts with canon, I can mitigate how badly I'm screwing things up.
