Oh my God, I think I'm writing a comedy.
How did *that* happen?
Not only that, but I think I'm writing a body swap comedy, which is just way too crack cliche.
Add in the fact that I started a short story which turned out to be a detective story (the case of the missing flamingo, and no, it's not blue, though there are several jokes about disguising it so).
I think it's a reaction to writing all my depressing lgbtfest fic. I hope so, anyway - the level of plot involved in a detective story doesn't work for me, since I don't plot from the start. Hence the reason it was going to be an office story and turned into a detective story in three lines.
Though, I was reading...someone, I forget who... during the last race discussions, who suggested that, unless there's a good reason for the character to be a straight, white man, they be something else, and have been trying it out. And ended up with a British-Asian lesbian as my mc, who I'm kind of ridiculously enamoured of, considering she only exists in my head. But she did propel the whole story forward, so I say, this is good advice, we all should try it.
