Because my story for the West Wing AU-athon is like banging my head against a brick wall, only less productive and more painful, here’s my favourite 5 of my stories, from the meme that’s going around:

1. What if I Told You Stargate Atlantis/SG-1, John/Cameron. My last fic for [livejournal.com profile] 14valentines: from watching Cameron at the end of The Quest, and John at the end of Sunday and thinking they needed someone to comfort them. I wanted it to show that they care for each other, and that they have for a while, and I think it’s in there, from John going to Cameron because he’s hurting and Cameron knowing who it is, to them collapsing on each other and only having sex in the middle of the night, when it’s dark, to the end with them wanting to be nearer and not being able to. It’s John and Cameron exactly the way that I see them.

2. Worth Staying For: CSI/CSI:NY, Sarah/Aiden. Written for a challenge from a very specific prompt that was probably the only prompt I’ve ever looked at and had an instant idea for that’s worked. Sarah and Aiden are my CSI-verse OTP, and I like how the story builds from them not really being able to get on to Aiden leaving because she has to, and making promises to return.

3. Stumbling Homewards: King Arthur, Gawain/Tristan. I got into King Arthur for Arthur and Lancelot (they might as well be canon!), but I ended up writing about Gawain and Galahad and Tristan. I loved the film, but I missed the mysticism I was expecting, and this is one of my stories that has that, with Tristan haunting Gawain as a falcon while Gawain and Galahad make their way home after the end of the movie. It’s also one of my many fics that has a half-written sequel in my head, so I fear it’s only a matter of time before it carries on…

4. A Dark Magician: King Arthur, no pairing. More mysticism, more Gawain, though this time stuck in a cave with Lancelot. This was me trying to put the wizardiness into Merlin, which is sadly lacking in the film, and trying to explain how he got so tied up with Arthur’s knights. I’m not sure what it is I like about this, but it just seemed to work when I was writing it, and I liked my Lancelot in it.

I don’t know that I have a fifth favourite. The first four were easy to pick, but now I don’t know. I’m kind of tempted to say my space pirate AU for Atlantis, because I think the premise is cool. Or All Roads Lead to the White House, a Josh/Leo, Josh/CJ West Wing fic for [livejournal.com profile] tww_minis, just because, when I got the prompt I spent a week staring at it going I can’t write that!

All right…

5. Two Stepping: Stargate Atlantis, Katie Brown/Laura Cadman, because I’m a femslasher at heart and this just flowed when I was writing it. Laura’s fun and they just seemed like a natural fit to me because honestly, I do not get what Katie is meant to be doing with Rodney – that’s just bizarre!

So, I was watching King Arthur with my parents last night (and suffering a lot of mocking about historical inaccuracies - it's just a story!) and at the end I was bemoaning the fact the Lancelot dies.

Me: I know he wasn't interested in Guinevere but they still didn't have to kill him!

My dad: He was far more interested in Arthur.

My father, who wouldn't get subtext if it hit him in the face with a wet fish! So there, it's virtually canon now... in my house, anyway.

for the weekend, not that it's going to be any less busy than the week. Why, oh why, did I agree to do two full-time jobs, in two different towns, for a week? I must have been out of my mind!

So... despite the best efforts of hotmail to swallow this story whole and never release it, we have overcome, and here it is. Two days before the challenge deadline even... if only I could get everything else done that early as well, I'd be sorted :)

Disclaimer: Still laying claim to Kay, even though he’s dead, and to Ygrain, who isn’t but only gets three lines. The others are nothing to do with me though.
Summary: Everything changes, and people always leave (A/L).
A/N: Thanks to lady_morgana, my ever-wonderful beta-reader. Part of the Muse Switch – write a story set 5 years pre-movie, focussing on Arthur and Lancelot; some references to 'The Truth', but can be read without.

So, I'm off to Munich for two days in two days, and I seem to be having major travel problems. I have twenty minutes to get from the tube to terminal 2 to check-in or I miss my flight - nothing like a mad dash through an airport you've never been to to add an element of excitement to a trip.

I can make it though - that's what trainers were invented for, right? :)

OK, more stories... This was an attempt to make a character say something they wouldn't, and if you can guess what it is, you get a gold star (I'm a teacher, I can't help it)

I just read in the TES about a study done where trainee teachers were asked to comment on teaching about homosexuality in schools. One quoted person said that - we don't want to hear about their choices. As if we're all some sort of strange creature... and do we want to hear about straight people's choices? But we don't have any choice.

It's really scary to think that these are the people who are educating our children, and are teaching them that being gay isn't something we should ever talk about, and assuming that all children and everyone the children know is straight. What are we saying to children with gay family members or friends, you know - that they should be invisible and not thought about. It's sickening.

All right, done ranting now.

So, more stories, well, one more.

Woo-hoo, I've finally mastered lj...I think. I hope. Anyway, another King Arthur fic, which I drove myself (and my friends) crazy trying to write... but I was victorious in the end.
