I was supposed to be going with some friends to a whip cracking thing in a park nearish to me, but they've cancelled and I don't want to go on my own, so I'm sitting in my flat with nothing to do.
So, before I go up the wall from boredom, an old meme:
Give me any two characters I write and I'll tell you about their first kiss (restricted to SGA, SG1 S9 on, Generation Kill, Numb3rs)

Vala/Laura, first kiss
Which means that, when her team tags along with SG1 and Vala says she’s never been to a stage show, there’s no-one to care that a week later Laura’s waving two tickets to Quilters at Vala over coffee in the mess.
“A musical play about frontier women, part of the women and domestic arts festival,” Vala reads. She doesn’t look convinced.
“It’s supposed to be really good,” Laura says, a little defensively. She spent two hours on her laptop after the mission, trying to find something loud and entertaining and colorful for Vala. Apparently, that’s in short supply right now. “We could drive over to Denver early, have dinner.”
Vala gives her an appraising look. “This sounds a lot like a date, Captain.”
Laura shrugs one shoulder. “Maybe,” she says, grinning. Nothing like being six month past don’t ask don’t tell getting tossed out to give a girl some confidence. “Say yes and find out.”
Vala looks at the tickets again, then back up at Laura, lips just curling up into a smile. “Only if you let me drive some of the way.”
*
Vala’s waiting outside the security check point when Laura pulls up. Laura was half-expecting one of Vala’s trademark head to toe leather outfits, but she’s wearing black pants and a silvery vest, her hair pinned up. Laura’s always thought the leather was hot, but there’s something about Vala in regular Earth clothes that makes her shiver. She likes the thought of the two of them being in a crowded theater with Vala’s secret.
“Not that I mind you staring at me as though you’ve forgotten your own language,” Vala says, smiling, leaning in the open passenger window and showing off a bit of cleavage. “But perhaps you could unlock this door, so I don’t have to stand out here all night?”
“I was admiring the view,” Laura says, popping the lock.
Vala nods solemnly. “I’ve always thought this was a terribly attractive example of a military mountain.” She tosses her leather jacket into the back seat, and holds out a bunch of pink tulips to Laura. “I’ve been reliably informed that flowers are traditional on a first date,” she says. “Though Daniel was somewhat unclear over whether I should be buying the flowers or not, being the girl.”
“We’re both girls,” Laura points out, taking the flowers. They’ll probably be dead by the time they get home, but she’s weirdly touched by the gesture. Also, amused by the thought of Vala and Daniel discussing dating etiquette. “I didn’t get you anything.”
“You have to pay for dinner, then,” Vala says loftily. “And you promised to let me drive, don’t think I’ve forgotten.”
*
They make small talk through dinner, and through the interval in the show, and Laura can’t keep the smile off her face, pleased that Vala seems to be having the same problem. It makes it easy to reach for Vala’s hand as they spill out of the theater, into the evening buzz, easy to swing their joined hands like it’s nothing as they walk between cafes and late-opening stores.
She goes automatically when Vala tugs at her hand, expecting to be pulled over to look at something, except Vala hasn’t moved, and Laura bumps gently into her. “What?” she asks.
“Apparently, a kiss is traditional,” Vala says.
“Usually at the end of the evening,” Laura corrects. Not that she’s making much of an argument, one hand light on Vala’s waist.
“What can I say?” Vala asks. “I get impatient.”
Someone cat calls them as they press closer together, Laura ducking her head to make up for the slight height difference, and she doesn’t care, because she’s kissing her hot alien friend in the middle of the street, surrounded by strangers, and it feels like all she’s ever wanted out of life.

I love the idea of Laura taking Vala on a date, showing her around Earth, and of Vala consulting Daniel for dating etiquette. And now that I think about it, Laura and Vala probably would get along very well.
Re: Vala/Laura, first kiss
It really did. Apparently Vala even has the power to make me write het - who knew?!
Vala consulting Daniel for dating etiquette
I love the idea of Vala going up to the Earthlings on her team and asking for Earth advice. I don't know why, it just amuses me.

Vala/Rodney, first kiss
Mitchell seems to hate him, though Vala’s not entirely sure why this is. Because he nearly killed Teal’c? Because he sometimes checks out Sam (which, who with eyes wouldn’t? Even in a uniform, she’s pretty hot). Something else? There has to be something, because Mitchell’s nice to everyone, as long as they’re not Ori or trying to kill anyone on the team. She just doesn’t know what.
Daniel seems to find him almost sort of amusing, though all he’ll say when Vala asks him is, “He’s changed,” which is not helpful, since she’s meeting him for the first time now, not before. Daniel, Vala’s noticed, is often more obscure than can really be necessary.
Teal’c says, “I believe Atlantis has been good for him,” and won’t say anything else.
Clearly, Vala’s going to have to make her own mind up, as usual. On Sheppard and Dr Weir as well – her team are even less helpful on them than they are on Dr McKay. Not that she sees much of any of them until the Ancients show up and throw them out of Atlantis, and even then, she doesn’t see much of McKay. Not until, three weeks after they all came home, he shows up in one of the labs where Vala went looking for Sam.
“Can I help you?” he says, looking up from a laptop and glaring at her. Clearly, he doesn’t remember her, and that simply won’t do.
“I have something for you,” she says, swinging herself up onto his lab bench and watching his eyes track her cleavage. She slides one finger under his chin, tilts his head up until he meets her eyes. “Up here, darling. They don’t speak.”
“What?” he says.
Vala smiles, and leans in to kiss him, lightning fast, with just a little tongue. He’s still blinking when she hops off the desk again and saunters out, grinning. She’d bet he won’t forget her now.

And this... She’d bet he won’t forget her now.
I'm pretty sure that Rodney won't forget her now. *g*
Thanks. :)
Re: Vala/Rodney, first kiss

Lorne/Ronon, first kiss
The first time Lorne really registers as Lorne, not just another person, is when Sheppard’s turning into a bug. Suddenly, Lorne’s everywhere, all the time, looking worn and worried and just like Ronon feels. They don’t talk to each other, much, but after the two marines get killed trying to get into the bug nest, Ronon pats Lorne’s shoulder on the walk back to the gate, and Lorne looks at him and smiles, a little, like maybe that made him feel better. And maybe it makes Ronon feel a bit better as well, but no-one’s going to ask him, and he’s always kept his secrets well.
Not that it matters: he knows Sheppard skipped over a lot of stuff when Ronon first got to Atlantis, but Ronon’s used to picking up stuff from locker room talk between soldiers. Lorne seems like a decent enough guy that Ronon’s not eager to put him in that situation. Doesn’t mean they can’t be friends though.
*
Ronon’s fairly sure a group trip to Earth could be a lot of fun, but not when he’s taking the trip alongside Carson’s coffin. They’re booked on a flight first thing the next morning, and into a hotel for the night. It’s Dr Cole who suggests they have dinner in the restaurant there, but there’s only so much she and Zelenka and Lorne can do to cover for Sheppard and McKay’s absolute silence, even when Ronon tries to help out. It’s hard to think of things to say when Carson’s dead.
They’ve got four rooms between six of them. Everyone (except for Dr Cole) agrees that she should take one on her own, and no-one questions that McKay and Sheppard will bunk up. Ronon’s not sure how he and Lorne end up together, but he doesn’t care. He’s pretty sure he doesn’t want to be alone on a strange planet, so much so that he barely registers that they’re sharing a bed.
He wakes up, disoriented, because Lorne’s talking. Well, muttering more than talking, too low for Ronon to make out the words, but he sounds upset. Ronon’s halfway to reaching for him before he wonders whether he should, or if Lorne would prefer to keep this secret. Then he decides he doesn’t care, because Lorne is his friend, and he sounds like he’s hurting, and of all the things people are suffering through right now, this is one Ronon can fix.
“Wake up,” he says quietly, shaking Lorne’s arm, keeping back, just in case. “Wake up, you’re dreaming.”
Lorne comes awake very fast, but very still, and blinks at Ronon in the light from outside. “What happened?”
“Nothing. You were dreaming.”
He sees the recall why they’re where they are wash over Lorne’s face, his eyes flickering closed for a moment before he sits up. “Right.”
“Hey,” Ronon says, touching a hand to Lorne’s back, covered by a t-shirt, not sure what he’s asking. Lorne sits very still for a second, then turns, sudden and sharp, right in Ronon’s space, and kisses his, fast and hard and desperate. He tastes of sleep and fear and grief, and Ronon doesn’t care, kisses back with all the sleep and fear and grief of his own.
It’s not a great beginning, but it’s a beginning, just the same.
Re: Lorne/Ronon, first kiss
I like Ronon's variation on DADT, and that he takes a while to get to know Lorne ... which was actually very clever to convey in such a short piece. And you worked in Lorne's nightmares. Kind of sad that their first kiss was in those circumstances, but perhaps they needed an extreme event to trigger it.

Between the two of them, I think there's a lot of reserve to get past, so definitely, an extreme event would do it.

Re: Lorne/Ronon, first kiss
I really like the idea of the two of them together-they haven't got a lot in common, but they do have a sort of zen attitude to life, a lot of loyalty and the whole career soldier thing in common. Which is more than some pairings have :o)
