Yes, I'm totally looking for excuses not to work on either editing my big bang fic, having had comments back from one of my betas, or writing my femslash 08 fic, even though it's half done and I know exactly what's going to happen.

Fraser and Kowalski, voicemail
One hour later…
Good afternoon, Detective Kowalski, this is Inspector Thatcher. I thought someone should inform you that the telephone numbers at the Canadian Consulate have recently been amended. Constable Fraser’s extension is now 2805, rather than 2801. That number now belongs to me.
I'm really looking forward to seeing all the final products!
Me too! Everyone seems to be writing such interesting things.

McKay and Fraser, email

Subject: Greetings
Dear Dr McKay,
I hope I don’t seem too forward in contacting you via this email address; I’m aware that you intended it primarily for your colleagues who wished to comment on your lecture. However, I very much wanted to say how fascinating I found your lecture on theoretical possibilities for intergalactic travel via artificial stable wormhole. It was one of the most intellectually stimulating hours I have spent in some time.
I did wish to speak with you at the end of your lecture, but as you may recall, there was some trouble with a group intent upon your assassination, which caused some confusion. Of course, by the time that had been resolved, the American Air Force Colonel accompanying you had provided his services in taking you to a secure location. It was suggested, when I made further enquiries, that my presence there would be unwelcome.
I do hope that this experience hasn’t adversely affected your perception of Chicago. I can assure you that I have always found the city and its people to be most welcoming to us Canadians. I would like to take this opportunity to offer my services as “tour guide” should you ever decide to make a return visit.
Once again, let me say how much I enjoyed your lecture.
Yours truly,
Constable B. Fraser, RCMP.

It totally should be, it's a great word :)

Re: Cadman and Lorne, text message; set during their pre-Atlantis days
I don't know what season 5 will bring, but I'm hoping that there will be more Lorne (and bring back Cadman, dammit!).

I’m fine. Well, apart from being confined to a hospital bed, but that’s only because Keller’s punishing me for staging a rescue when I had a stomach wound. But I’m fine. You can tell Carter that I’ll be fit for that court martial within the week,
And that we miss her. She was a great CO, it sucks that they’re keeping her on Earth. Bet you’re pleased though.
Did I tell you Teyla had her baby. On Michael’s ship, actually, during the daring rescue. Bet that’s never happened to SG-1.She’s calling him Torrin John. You should come visit. See the baby.
I’m really fine. McKay exaggerates.
John.

Technically, he wasn’t lost. He was in Atlantis all along. Just 48,000 years in the future. And anyway, we didn’t lose him. It was just bad timing.
Anyway, he’s back now. Thanks entirely to yours truly – well, yours truly in another time-line. And I’m sure he’d love to tell you this himself, but he’s in surgery after going to rescue Teyla with a major wound after a building fell on him.
But other than that, he’s fine.

How the hell do you manage to lose the military commander of Atlantis between one planet and the next? It’s not like he could take a wrong turning somewhere.
Keep me informed, okay, McKay? I don’t
Thanks for telling me,

There’s probably nothing to worry about and a perfectly good explanation, but I know Sheppard emails you with the databurst. You’re not going to get an email this week, but I promised him I’d tell you if anything happened to him.
He’s missing right now, last seen walking through the gate back to Atlantis. He never arrived, so clearly he’s somewhere, unless the gate has spontaneously stopped rematerializing people at the other end (it hasn’t, we checked), but we don’t know where it sent him.
I’m confident we’ll find him, of course. Probably before the next databurst even goes. You’ll barely have time to worry about him. It’s just – I promised.

Re: Cam and McKay, email; MAJOR SPOILERS for 4x20 The Last Man & 5x01 Search and Rescue
Thanks hun, its perfect. I was confused for a moment and then went all the way down and read it from the bottom up like a multi-reply email. YAY! Loved the subject too.
Only John's reply is spoilery, and only his wound bit - I knew about the baby already.
Again... EEEEEEEEE!!! *even higher pitched dolphin noises*

Oh god, Rodney, this is why I love you. You are so unhelpful in reassuring. I'm just picturing Cam freaking out. This is so great.
Hi, I'm a random lurker that loves your stuff. *waves*

I know, way to be reassuring right? And poor Cam's sitting there thinking - a *building* fell on him? Stomach wound - what the hell??

(It occurred to me that Lorne probably gets stuck with a lot of dealing with requests and administrativa from the civilian scientists as part of his XO duties, which originally made me think Kavenaugh & Lorne, but then I realized I had no interest in whiny diatribes written in Kavenaugh's voice, however well-written they might be.)
no subject
Wouldn't a well-written whiny diatribe be even more annoying than a poorly written one? Like distilled essence of Kavanaugh whine.
I will write you something for this, but life suddenly got majorly hectic and my brain refuses to offer up fictional words. Next week, hopefully.
no subject
As annoying as Kavenaugh is, I'd prefer something that actually sounds like him in all his whiny glory to some of the fics I've run across where he's written like an evil junior high cheerleader (perhaps the authors' only reference point for antagonists?).
Zelenka and Lorne, email

To: r.zelenka@cheyenne.mil.af
Subject: Re: Mission Request
You know, Doc, I was reliably informed when I got here that you were the reasonable one of the science team. Go to Dr Zelenka, people told me, he’s rational, he understands, he doesn’t ask for ridiculous things and then yell when he doesn’t get them. Nice guy, that Dr Zelenka, they said.
This is the last time I listen to what anyone in Atlantis tells me, because clearly they all lie. It’s the only possible explanation for why you’ve just sent me a request for over half of my marines to accompany a two-week research mission to a planet that hasn’t even been fully cleared yet, because it might have ZPMs.
Either that, or it’s April Fools Day in Atlantis and no-one told me. How is the conversion calendar coming, anyway?
On an unrelated note, any chance that you could persuade McKay to take Sheppard exploring the city for a day? I know he’s still recovering, but he’s perfectly capable of walking around, and if I don’t get him out of my hair for a few hours, I’m going to shoot him for real. And I really don’t need the paperwork.
EL
PS – If you’re serious with this, drop by my office this afternoon and we’ll discuss it.

Oh! And I read your Danny/Mac fic. I don't see a lot of slashiness in that show, but that was a very slashy episode. Well done!
no subject
And also Lorne emailing Zelenka. I bet they spend a lot of time subtly bitching about their bosses.
I would think that's the only option when you're working with Sheppard and McKay :-)
